Security and safety for peace of mind...

For a new porch to be exempt from building regs, the front entrance (original) must remain in situ with the house but the security of the porch or house is certainly not compromised. Our porches and windows can be of the same ratings as our windows and doors which includes the latest secure locks and advancements in our industry.

A great addition to your home...

Porches are regularly used by our customers so that they have a separate entrance that is great for wet days to take off clothing and shoes, more so in the cold months. This shows that the thermal performance of the porch must remain excellent and we achieve this by installing double glazed windows, efficient and secure doors and insulated roofs.

Planning Permission

Generally porches are considered a ‘permitted development’ by local authorities and don’t require planning permission so when an application does have to be submitted, it is generally quick to be accepted. Porches are permitted generally under the guide that (A) The internal ground floor of the porch does not exceed 3 SqM and (B) The porch is not 3m above ground and lastly (C) The porch is within 2m of any boundary of the dwelling and any highways.

Building Regulations

In the same way that porches generally do not need planning permission porches are also usually exempt from any building regulations providing that they are, measured internally, less than 30 SqM in size. As long as the general building regulations are kept to, you will not need building regulations.
